Prepare Now: Starvation is Coming
Bankrupt policies have created a dependency on Russian resources resulting in cascading failures in the agriculture sector. Famines have already begun in parts of the world. Prepare while you can.
As I wrote in a previous column, brain-dead ‘green’ energy policies, especially in Europe and the West generally have caused grave fertilizer shortages resulting in farmers either reducing fertilizer inputs and/or resorting to toxic ‘night soil’ comprising human waste. The health impact of these bankrupt policies created by political idealogues is inevitably winding its way to another end-point: mass starvation. While the political elites (eg the Davos Set) thrive as ever among their own company, Mediterranean villas, private jets and concierge services, mere serfs are forced to pay increasingly extortionate taxes while surviving much further down the food pyramid. Literally. Bugs are now plat du jour according to the World Economic Forum. Cold showers and sweaters are recommended. Many more such retrograde recommendations are coming, of this we can be sure. It all reinforces the notion that we are headed for, if not already in, a state of Neo Feudalism.
As outlined in a recent article on the topic:
From the time that people first aggregated into cities and nations the scourge of famine and starvation has followed. It has only been in the past few decades that global food security has finally lifted this historic threat. Modern food security largely derives from two of the most important scientific accomplishments of the last century, the Haber-Bosch process to convert atmospheric nitrogen to ammonia fertilizer presently using about 1% of global energy and 3-5% of global natural gas production.
…
It is high yield agriculture that permits the current population to be fed compared to the challenges that have occurred throughout all of human history. The political controversy is that feeding the world at the cost of its huge energy and fossil fuel footprint is already problematic and now more so with much of the production centered in sanctioned Russia.…
Quite simply there is not enough natural nitrogen available to maintain current global food production. There is no free lunch, to feed humanity requires massive energy that has adverse environmental impact hence the concerns of the sustainability advocates who then look to the past for the future.
By refusing to develop or even maintain sustainable, continuous high-output energy sources such as nuclear (Germany is getting rid of it) and by becoming dependent on unreliable and unsustainable ‘green’ ‘renewables’ which never take into account the full life-cycle energy or carbon cost, and by refusing to develop relatively clean indigenous, abundant natural gas sources in Europe (fracking), all of us are now held hostage to Vladimir Putin’s whims, by proxy. Even in the USA, viable drilling rights have been put on hold by a contemptuous Biden regime intent on inflicting economic damage just for the hell of it.
Up next: Starvation:
If you thought grocery prices were high after the initial waves of COVID-19, they’re about to get a lot worse. A US index of food costs jumped 13% in March and the World Bank predicts that wheat prices will rise by more than 40%.
…
Experts are predicting a global food crisis, in part due to Russia, but a number of other factors are coalescing to exacerbate the situation. Ultimately, everyone will be affected, and you can’t count on governments to take the action necessary to prevent it.
To say that a 40% rise is a catastrophe would be an understatement. But this is already old data: The actual increase since the 2018-2020 period is far worse. It’s already up by 120%!
The article goes on to say that the official position of the Biden administration via Samantha Power is that the world must resort to the moral equivalent of cave dwelling: Use Manure and compost. “Never let a good crisis go to waste” she says, as most nihilists are wont to pronounce.
Manure may work on boutique organic farms whose produce ends up at Whole Foods or Trader Joes (for the tony Upper East Side or Soho crowd, or in the Westchester stomping grounds of Elites like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) but for the inhabitants of places like Sri Lanka, it’s a total catastrophe…. as the article goes on to demonstrate:
Sri Lanka Offers a Glimpse of the Future
In April 2021, Sri Lanka’s president Gotabaya Rajapaksa banned all imports of chemical fertilizer and ordered the country’s two million farmers to go organic overnight.
Production of Sri Lanka’s crucial rice crop fell 20% in the first six months, and the country went from producing all of its own rice to importing $450 million of it. Prices surged by 50%. The price of vegetables like carrots and tomatoes shot up five-fold.
The plan was sold on environmental grounds, but the main reason was that Sri Lanka’s financial reserves had been drained by the pandemic. But the sudden organic switch devastated Sri Lanka’s chief exports like rubber and tea, which only made things worse.
Today, Sri Lanka is a bankrupt mess with only intermittent power, rioting on the streets, and anger and hunger everywhere. The currency collapsed to 370 to the US dollar as I write this; inflation is running at Weimar Germany levels. They may be saved by an IMF loan at some point, which will put the entire country into perpetual Medieval serfdom. But at least they might be able to eat … insects or something.
It is now unavoidable that this tragedy is coming to you, wherever you are. This is a global problem and you can already see it in your daily shopping. My advice - if there was a time to panic, it is now. Do as the Swiss do - stock up on food - six months’ worth or a year if you can afford it and store it well. Canned goods, non-perishable foods like pasta, frozen foods, cooking oils. Buy a large freezer if you can fit it and stuff it full. Make a list and hit the markets. If nothing truly bad happens, you will at least have saved enormously on food costs in the coming months so long as the food stays edible. There are a lot of prepper sites on the internet you can visit with many recommendations.
As to the ‘green’ lobby, these people should only command the greatest of contempt. Even one of their own, Michael Moore recently turned on them with his movie, ‘Planet of the Humans’. I heartily recommend this movie to anyone still under the delusion that ‘green’ is all about saving the planet. It’s not. It’s just a scam, more elaborate and deceptive than others but still a scam. If you don’t believe me, watch for yourself.
